The only thing that was noticeably improved on was the combat, and even that notion was really subjective for most fans. The story, characters, and setting were all quite underwhelming and made for a painfully average experience that left fans in an uproar. So, one can understand why most modern gamers would prefer to stay away from the second game in the series. However, the game is actually quite overheated, and using the following mods to play Dragon Age II can noticeably improve the overall experience.
This might be a small complaint, but there's no denying the fact that the hands of some characters in the game can be quite painful to look at. It might be a small complaint, but one can't help looking at these abominations that the game has the gall to call hands.
Players who want this issue to be a thing of the past need only download the NPC Hands mod. It does exactly what is implied in the name and improves the textures of Bethany, Isabela, Merrill, and Anders' hands. Players wanted their customization options in Dragon Age II to be as diverse as possible.
Given the backlash against this title, it's clear that customizing one's character wasn't really all that diverse either. It's a small change, but the fact that it allows characters to look as unique as possible is definitely a plus. The act of selling items for money is consistent across any RPG. So, it's no surprise to see that Dragon Age II follows this golden rule as well. However, for the most part, merchants don't really pay Hawke a lot for the goods he or she provides.
This can prove to be rather annoying, at times. Thankfully, with the Valuable Junk mod , merchants will be more reasonable when it comes to buying the party's treasure.
Dragon Age II isn't really the newest game around. As a result, a lot of the visuals can seem painfully dated at times, including the face textures for the hero's companions. Thankfully, a simple mod can take care of this issue for the player.
Changes the default eyebrow presets. It will also change the eyebrows all companions, NPCs and Heroes in game. Removes instances where Dalish elves refer to city elves as "flat-ears" and city elves refer to Dalish elves as "savages".
Replaces Morrigan's robes with what she wears in DA:I, meaning higher quality and gaining an actual bra. Replaces vanilla meshes for Medium and Heavy female armours for all races with more unisex ones. Includes edited armour textures to match. No more boobplate. A quick mod to allow for any response to be chosen at the end of Merrill's Act 3 quest without having to fight her clan.
Removes the helmet graphic from party members by placing helmets in the invisible "cloak" equipment slot. Item Sets fixed. Awakening compliant. Removes the blood that somehow ends up on everyone's teeth during combat. The rest of the blood remains the default. Removes all perk requirements. You can now pick whichever perk you want without needing to buy 3 or 4 other perks. Anders and Sebastian can both stay in your party for the endgame. This mod will allow you to play your Hawke - and their siblings, and mother, and Gamlen - as elves.
Tattoos redrawn by hand with a higher resolution, stronger colour, sharper designs and a few other very minor tweaks. Smooth and realistic hair retextures. A requirement for most hair mods, and just plain looks good. I personally prefer the realistic one. When you start a new game, skips the exaggerated intro with your sibling and goes straight to character creation. Everything between being found by Cullen and Cassandra, and entering Skyhold's courtyard, can now be skipped like any other dialogue or cutscene.
High resolution unique textures for the vanilla companions. Personally, I just use some of these for my own morphs. High resolution unique textures for the vanilla companions and the CC.

The new runes can do everything from boosting threat generation to allowing players to cast certain spells without using any mana. Each time Hawke meets a new companion , they come auto-leveled with a handful of skills and all attribute points allocated. This means the player can't be the one to decide whether Aveline is a weapon and shield or two-handed warrior, or whether Isabela has any proficiency with a bow, or what kind of spells Merrill knows.
Players can choose the skills, tactics, and attribute distribution for each of their companions from the moment they are recruited. Even Hawke is affected, and players will need to choose their starting spells, skills, and attribute distribution.
There is an optional set of files players can download with this mod to intelligently auto-level companions' stats prior to recruitment and still not auto-level their abilities if players prefer.
The giant spiders in Dragon Age 2 are particularly horrible, often descending with a loud hiss when the player least expects it. There are many of them, including a few bearing the name Monstrous for their unnecessarily massive size. If players are struggling with the spiders in the game, they can install the No More Spiders mod by Icerf This mod simply replaces all the spiders in the game with Mabari war hounds. They will still make the spider hissing noises and be called Giant Spiders, but they don't drop from the ceiling or stare with those beady eyes.
Despite being such a small city, Kirkwall can feel massive when players are trying to quickly move through each area or through dungeons. For anyone interested in a speed run or just picking up the pace, the Faster Runspeed mod by Muckbeast is a must-have. Base movements speed for the characters is set to 6, and this mod increases that speed. Players can choose whether movement speed is increased both in and out of combat or just out of combat.
They can also choose whether their speed is doubled 12 or increased by half 9. Installing mods for Dragon Age 2 is fairly easy.
